Scarlet Johansson has filed a lawsuit against Disney for breach of contract.

In December 2017 Disney made a deal with Scarlett for the production of a live-action television series based on the Black Widow character from Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Johnson planned to produce a show based on her character Natasha Romanoff while working with Disney to bring a television show. The show, however, was scheduled to premiere in late 2018 and while the two were in talks Disney announced a different deal for a streaming television show with Sony Pictures.

The lawsuit claims that Disney willfully neglected to inform Scarlett about the deal with Sony and alleges that they did not intend to give her credit for creating the character or other compensation she was promised under the contract.

Disney is in hot water with Scar Jo, because she’s accusing the entertainment powerhouse of breaching their contract over Black Widow movie release, according to TMZ.

Scarlett believes she should be allowed to exit her contract and get out of future Marvel movies if Disney doesn’t make the spin-off.

Scarlett is suing for lost wages and legal fees. The suit comes weeks after Scarlett’s standalone Black Widow movie was reportedly cancelled by Disney and Marvel Studios, which she believed would happen in the early stages of the MCU.

This move follows other high profile actors including Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. Disney wouldn’t give us a comment on the pending litigation.

According to a lawsuit obtained by The Blast, Johansson claims after she contracted with Marvel to star in an “adventure film,” Marvel did not meet its contract obligations.

Scarlett provides a timeline of the deal, claiming that after agreeing to the deal in June 2016, she was supposed to have been given a copy of the “Black Widow” script in November 2016. However, she says only a set of notes from the studio arrived.

The actress claims she asked Disney what was going on with the script and they replied by saying they were happy with the feedback from the notes and decided not to proceed with the project.

“This was meant to be a very good thing, with a standalone story that could enrich the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), but after a while, it didn’t happen, and it’s frustrating,” she told Glamour magazine.

Johansson has starred as the Russian spy since 2010, appearing in several MCU films, but her new role as an Avenger is set to end in 2019 with Avengers 4. This new movie would have been the first time fans were able to see her character’s backstory on screen.
The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Matt Muller, editor of industry publication stream daily questions it will make Disney change its double delivery methodology.

“Disney’s definitive manager is its investors and they need Disney+ to be enormously fruitful,” he proceeded.

“Yet, it may make the top ability reconsider if they don’t figure they can score the super paydays that dramatic deliveries have had the option to produce for stars previously.
